I’m a Master’s level Social Worker who works with teens and young adult women who need help navigating the many curveballs of life. My goal is to help you learn how to create balance and boundaries in order to live a life you love.
Finding the right therapist, the one that “gets” you, can be time consuming.
The whole process of sifting through website after website of different therapists, trying to find someone that you click with can feel daunting. You will share your innermost thoughts and feelings with this person yet you are expected to make that decision based on a picture? That’s gotta be one REALLY good picture!
The process of finding the right therapist can be enough to make a person stop looking.
I get it.
This page was created for you. It is a quick way for you to determine if I am the right fit for you. Every therapist brings their own unique set of skills and style to sessions…so let me tell you a bit more about me so you can make the best decision with your time.
First Of All…You Should Know
The life you envision doesn’t have to stay a vision. It truly can become your reality. It will take work to establish those boundaries, to get clear in your thoughts and to find the balance but you deserve it…so why not start now?
This process is about you, not me… so let’s get to it.
Let me tell you about the clients that I find I have the most success with helping so you can determine quickly if I am the right therapist for you. I find that the clients that experience the most success in therapy are those that are ready to put in the work, understand that therapy is a process (no one has a magic wand to make problems disappear) and appreciates my direct and genuine approach.
I try to be the therapist I would want to see.
I will not dance around an issue- I will bring up my observations, thoughts and questions in a non-judgmental, conversational approach to help get to the root of your challenges. Remember we are trying to build a life you love, not one that is just mediocre. It’s gonna take some work.
My approach has led clients to experience improved self-awareness, stronger communication skills and more confidence with navigating so many of life’s curve balls in order to feel more fulfilled, less overwhelmed and confident in the decisions you make. All of these skills will help you to facilitate healthier relationships as well as will allow you to restructure your life in a way that feels good to you.
The Stuff that Allows Me to Call Myself a Therapist
I am a Licensed Social Worker. I have a BA in Psychology and MA in Education from Saint Xavier University (Go Cougars) and received my Masters in Social Work from Aurora University (We Are SPARTANS). As a lifelong learner, I have received additional training and certifications in cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused therapy. I have extensive experience working with teens and young adult women with adjustment, behavioral, stress and anxiety disorders.
My graduate studies were extremely rigorous. During my internships, I completed hundreds of hours of direct therapy sessions and received supervision that provided me with tools to sharpen my skills as a therapist. So I am ready for you.
I integrate a few evidence based theoretical orientations in therapy which includes:
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Solution-Focused Therapy
- Talk Therapy
None of which provides me with the power of mind reading or fortune telling–I sure wish it did though!
Teens – You are my JAM
From the constant pressure to perform to the endless scrolls on the ‘gram of the seemingly perfect lives of everyone else, being a teen is hard. It is harder now than it was for your parents, but they don’t get it. They do not understand the anxiety you feel as you walk into school or the doubt you hold inside regarding every decision you make. Am I making the right choice? Are other people going to judge me?
There are endless expectations placed upon you…earn good grades in school, show kindness, use manners, smile, stand tall, speak up, lower your voice, share your opinion, watch what you say and the list goes on and on.
No wonder why you’d rather get lost in the scroll of social media than sit at the dinner table.
Things don’t have to feel so hard. Let’s work together to get you feeling better.
Young Adult Ladies – I’m your girl. Let’s do this
I see you. You are in college, a new grad or perhaps you have just landed your “dream” job that you worked so hard for yet sh*t keeps hitting the fan, stopping you dead in your tracks. Stress keeps flying in from all different directions and you are barely keeping your head above water.
You read the blogs, watch the videos, listen to the podcasts…you are doing “all the things” to figure out what in the hell is a matter with you yet nothing is helping you feel better
The truth is… nothing is wrong with you! But there are things in your life that need some tweaks.
You are in the right place. Let’s figure this out together.
Relationships – b/c what’s love got to do with it?!
Maybe you’ve been through a break-up, and you feel broken or lost without the ex. Your life is hanging in this “grey” area and you are desperate to break free from it.
Or perhaps you’re in a relationship that feels “off,” and you’re not sure why. You’re still in it, but there’s an underlying problem you can’t quite pinpoint.
Or is it the people in your life that you love the most have these great plans for your future — but YOU have dreams of YOUR OWN, so you feel torn?
The good news is that you can have what you want, without feeling the guilt of disappointing someone else.
Let’s work together to create a life that YOU love
I hope this has helped you decide if I am the right therapist for YOU.
If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me Here.
If I’m not the right fit for you, I will gladly help you find another therapist who might be a better fit for you.
