You’ve been trying really hard to keep it together, BUT, there is this belief that others are doing these things better than you, more often than you, and getting better results than you. On social media, it looks like others have it all. They have the big house filled with a few kids and the loving spouse. It looks like they go out every weekend, and vacation twice a year. Or, maybe you’re seeing your ex in a bunch of pictures on Instagram with other people that you don’t know. Next thing you know, you’re social media stalking these other people searching for information that usually makes you feel worse. Any of this sounding familiar? You question where you went wrong and ask why life is so easy for others. You know you should STOP scrolling, but you just KEEP going.
You probably hate the way things are right now. Anxiety and low self-esteem keep getting in the way of you enjoying your life. Frustrations such as FOMO (fear of missing out), less than perfect self-esteem, difficulty making decisions, constant worrying, and strained relationships leave you feeling less than your best. You look around and begin to feel like you’re missing out on things, and you may ask yourself, “how did I get here?”
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT YOU DON’T HAVE TO FEEL THIS WAY FOREVER.
It’s time to make that change, and move away from FOMO and move toward JOMO (joy of missing out)! We can help you find ways to better manage feelings and emotions that can seem out of control at times. Reach out for a free consultation and let’s get to know each other.
If you read this and thought….that doesn’t really describe me, but you think we would be a good fit, please reach out! We appreciate any contact from those who are motivated to make improvements in their lives.
WHERE WE COME IN.
Back to Balance Counseling specializes in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety, specific phobias, PTSD, issues related to insomnia, postpartum depression and anxiety, stress management, body image issues, panic disorder, self-esteem concerns, OCD, depression, and life transitions. People seek counseling for an array of reasons. Due to life’s circumstances, people can suffer from feelings of stress, anxiety, loss, sadness, or inadequacy. Others may decide counseling can help them with their journey toward self-discovery.
It seems like everyone has anxiety these days, right? The term is used so loosely that we’re finding many people are self-diagnosing themselves with an anxiety disorder. While many of us do lead busy lives filled with deadlines, meetings, and expectations, that does not mean that all busy people experience anxiety. We spend most of our time with clients determining the cause of their anxious feelings. Once we can figure that out, we are able to work on the real issues and make great progress.
Our thoughts dictate our feelings, our feelings dictate our behavior, and our behavior reinforces our thoughts. We frequently find that we get caught up in faulty thinking patterns that do not do us any favors. This happens throughout the course of the day, and for the most part, we are unaware of this thought trap.
We utilize empirically-supported treatments to help our clients regain a sense of control over their lives. We help anxious individuals create a different relationship with their anxiety so they can begin to feel like they are in charge of their life again. Sometimes self-help books and podcasts aren’t enough! Rather than feeling like life is happening TO you every day, we’ll help teach you skills to take steps toward living a more rich and meaningful life.
Additionally, we help teens who are struggling to find their way. Whether it’s friend drama, stress from being involved in way too many activities, athletic performance pressures, the overwhelm of managing an AP class load, conflict with parents…we can guide you through these things so you don’t stress yourself out any further.
Maybe you’ve considered therapy before, but thought it might be too much of a change. Change can be scary! We get it. The good news is…we’re definitely not here to scare you!
If life isn’t going right, and you’re ready to make some changes so you can stop hating yourself, let’s get to know each other and figure out how we can help.
